Each year, after the rainy season, I search Wildwood Park for native wildflowers.
The Red-skinned Onion is also known as Allium haematochiton. They grow in a small area of Wildwood Park along the Stagecoach Bluff trail. I compete with the rabbits every year to capture (photographically) them before they consume them. The flowers are about one-inch in diameter.
The Shooting Star is also known as Dodecatheon clevelandii. Most of the Shooting Star plants I have encountered have been along the Stagecoach Bluff trail.
Catalina Mariposa Lilly
The Catalina Mariposa Lilly is also known as Calochortus catalinae. I was fortunate to catch this flower in the early stage of leaves opening.
